Frenum
Frenum piercings are a popular and versatile option, typically placed just behind the glans, passing through the webbing where the foreskin meets the shaft. They are anatomical piercings, meaning you need the proper structure for them to work, but they can work on intact and circumcised anatomy.
Straight barbells are recommended during the healing phase and usually require downsizing once healed. Rings are also a comfortable choice and can be worn either underneath in a hanging style, or over the top with a slightly larger ring that rests neatly behind the head.
Alternative, non-traditional placements, such as further down the shaft or on the top or bottom are possible, but these tend to be more challenging to heal and may be more prone to migration over time.
Because frenum piercings do not pass through the urethra, they won’t affect urination, and healing is generally straightforward thanks to the small amount of tissue involved.
