Our Age Requirements

As a professional studio, we not only hold high standards of sterility and customer service, but we also have a higher standard of care than the minimum legal requirement.

Because of this, we are an 18+ piercing studio. We will pierce anybody who is able to give consent (usually 5 years or older) as long as a parent/legal guardian accompanies them to the studio on the day of the procedure, and both parties have appropriate ID.

Kids

We will pierce anyone who is able to consent to have their body altered, so usually any enthusiastic child aged 5 and up shouldn’t be a problem! Our studio is kid-friendly (let’s face it, we are just big kids ourselves)!

As a professional piercing studio, we ONLY use single-use, sterile needles to pierce, and we do multiple piercings in tandem (at the same time) as standard. Guns are YUCKY and put your child at risk.

All of our piercers are APP and AUPP members. You can read more about why that is so important for your little one’s safety here.

We have a HUGE selection of professional grade jewellery suitable to be pierced with, in a variety of different sizes/gauges/styles.

How to know if your child is ready:

Often, young children will express interest in getting body art, sometimes to look similar to relatives or friends.

It’s important that you discuss the permanency, discomfort, and responsibility entailed in cleaning and caring for a healing wound.

If you aren’t 100% sure that your child is ready, we suggest dropping by for a free consultation to pick jewellery and meet some of our practitioners, so when they do come in for their piercing it is less overwhelming.

Things to avoid with a new piercing:

  • Swimming in chlorine pools (1 – 3 months)

  • Removal (even for short periods) for the first 12 months

  • Changing the jewellery in a piercing for the first 9 months without professional assistance

  • Covering or taping the earrings during the first 6 months. This includes hats, plasters, headphones, swim/shower caps, helmets, etc.

Valid Forms of Underage ID Include:

  • Proof of age card

  • Drivers license

  • Passport
  • Public Transport travel card (with DOB and photo)

  • Birth certificate

  • Immunisation record

Valid forms of parental/guardian ID include:

  • Proof of age card
  • Drivers license
  • Passport
  • Working with children card

Vaid forms of legal guardianship (adoption):

  • Court-issued Enduring Power of Guardianship (EPG)
  • Court-issued Special Guardianship Order (SGO)

Valid forms of association:

  • Medicare or Health Insurance card

  • Birth certificate

Care of the State or emancipation:

If the client is under the age of 18 and is in care of the state or legally emancipated, we will require signed documents from the court stating who is responsible for their care, as well as valid ID from both parties.

Numbing beforehand:

We find most children are fine without the need for any topical numbing, as the discomfort is very short and the piercings are very fast. However, if you feel the need to do so, please ensure you apply the cream 30-45 minutes prior, as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

Recommended Minimum Ages

Although every person develops at a different rate, we have established rough age groups to help you decide if a piercing is right for you or your child. A pre-consultation may be required to discuss lifestyle, sports, and anatomical viability.

We refuse service of any intimate piercing of a person under the age of 18, even with parental permission.
